Given :- If O is to be replaced by 1, 1 is replaced by 2, 2 is replaced by 3, 3 is replaced by 4, 4 is replaced by 5, 5 is replaced by 6, 6 is replaced by 7, 7 is replaced by 8, 8 is replaced by 9 and 9 is replaced by O. Then find the value of (78 - 12 - 13 - 14).

options :-

(a) 14

(b) 31

(c) 17

(d) 161

Solution :-

given that,

  • 0 is replaced by 1 .
  • 1 is replaced by 2 .
  • 2 is replaced by 3 .
  • 3 is replaced by 4 .
  • 4 is replaced by 5 .
  • 5 is replaced by 6 .
  • 6 is replaced by 7 .
  • 7 is replaced by 8 .
  • 8 is replaced by 9 .
  • 9 is replaced by 0 .
  • Each number is increasing by 1 except 9 .

so, in (78 - 12 - 13 - 14) we get,

  • 78 becomes = (7 + 1)(8 + 1) = 89
  • 12 becomes = (1 + 1)(2 + 1) = 23
  • 13 becomes = (1 + 1)(3 + 1) = 24
  • 14 becomes = (1 + 1)(4 + 1) = 25
  • or, we can say that, we have to add 11 in a two digit number .

then,

→ (78 - 12 - 13 - 14)

→ (89 - 23 - 24 - 25)

→ 89 + (-23 - 24 - 25)

taking (-1) common from bracket,

→ 89 + (-1)(23 + 24 + 25)

→ 89 + (-1) * 72

→ 89 - 72

17 (c) (Ans.)

Hence, the required value will be option (c) 17.
