Answer:

Lifted by the subduction of the Indian tectonic plate under the Eurasian Plate, the Himalayan mountain range runs west-northwest to east-southeast in an arc 2,400 km (1,500 mi) long.

...

These are known as volcanic, fold and block mountains. All of these are the result of plate tectonics, where compressional forces, isostatic uplift and intrusion of igneous matter forces surface rock upward, creating a landform higher than the surrounding features.

In India specifically the mountain ranges Satpura and Vindhya found in the central- western part of the Indian sub continent are block mountains, having formed through cracks in the earth's crust, these ranges rose while the block of earth known as the Rift Valley depressed.

It is one of the rivers in India that flows in a rift valley, bordered by the Satpura and Vindhya ranges. As a rift valley river, the Narmada does not form a delta; Rift valley rivers form estuaries. The other rivers which flow through rift valley include Damodar River in Chota Nagpur Plateau and Tapti.

Aravalli Range

The Aravalli Range, an eroded stub of ancient mountains, is the oldest range of Fold Mountains in India. The natural history of the Aravalli Range dates back to a pre-Indian subcontinental collision with the mainland Eurasian Plate. It is part of the Indian Shield that was formed from a series of cratonic collisions.
