Answer:

CP = ( SP * 100 ) / ( 100 + percentage profit).

CP = 315 * 100 / 100 + 5

CP = 31500 / 105

Your Question :

A man sold a toy for ₹315 at a profit of 5%. What did the toy cost him?

Given :

  • Selling price (SP) of the toy = ₹315
  • Profit = 5%

To Find :

  • Cost price (CP) of the toy .

Solution :

We have,

SP = (1 + r/100)CP

Here, SP = ₹315

r = 5%

➻ ₹315 = (1 + 5/100)CP = 21/20 CP.

➻ CP = 20/21 × ₹315 = ₹300.

Therefore :

∴ The toy cost him ₹300.
