Suppose , it's radius is ' r ' cm . Therefore, area of circle = πr² also there are two circles . So total base surface area of cylinder will be 2πr².

If you want to add the Lateral surface area to get the total surface area . Multiply the circumference with height .

According to above example , radius is ' r ' cm . Therefore , circumference is equal to 2πr and if you multiply height h to it . You will get 2πrh .

and hence total surface area of cylinder:
