Qi Geeta arranged a set up with two electrodes and distilled water as a solution. It was
observed that the bulb did not glow. Her friend Meeta asked her to add a pinch of table
salt into it.
a) Will the bulb glow now? Justify
b) If we increase the amount of salt into the solution, how will it affect the
conductance of the solution? Explain

Answer:

a) Yes, the blub will glow now.

Distilled water is a non-conductor of current but when table salt (NaCl) is added in it, it becomes a conductor.( experiment of electrolysis)

b) When we increase the amount of table salt in the distilled water, the number of the ions (Na^+ and Cl^―) are increased. So the flowness of current will increase. Resulting the bulb will glow more than previous.
