Sir,
Subject: Alarming level of noise pollution in urban areas
I am a regular reader of your newspaper and wish to use the columns of your esteemed daily to bring to the notice of the public and the authorities the alring level of noise pollution in urban areas.
Many people use loud speakers to advertise products; at time religious places of worship use them to broadcast sermons; they are regularly used in weddings and celebrations. It causes a lot of disturbance to students who are preparing for entrance exams. It disturbs the sleep of the elderly and sick people. It causes noise pollution and disrupts the peaceful environment. There is no break for the public from the continuous and irritating loud decibels of honking vehicles. factories and industries use machines that add to noise pollution. Noise pollution leads to nervous disorders, hearing problems and disturbs peace. The authorities need to intervene and put a stop to the continuous use of loud speakers. A time limit on the use of loud speakers needs to be set. Factories need to filter sound, use sound proof walls to contain the loud sounds of the machines. Honking in areas around schools and hospitals should be banned.
I hope that the authorities and public will take prompt steps to curtail this nuisance.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Yours faithfully,
