=(-2)²-4(1)(-4)

=4+16

=20

since, D>0

therefore , equation has real and distinct roots

x=( -b+√D)/2a ; (-b-√D)/2a

x=[-(-2)+√20]/2(1) ; [-(-2)-√20]/2(1)

x=(2+2√5)/2 ; (2-2√5)/2

therefore ,

roots =1+√5 ; 1-√5
