`quadrilateral PQRS is rectangle

∴PQ =RS=8 cm

∴QR = PS=15 cm

∴BY PYTOGAROS THEROME

PR² = PS² + SR²

      =15² + 8²

      =225 + 64

      = 289

      =√289

     =17

 ∴PR= QS= 17 cm

Answer:

The length of diagonal is 17 c.m.

Step-by-step explanation:

  • PQRS is a given rectangle
  • Sides of rectangle PS=8cm and PQ=15cm(Given)
  • Since opposite sides of rectangle are equal

   ⇒PQ=SR=15cm

   ⇒PS=QR=8cm

  • In rectangle all the angles are right angles
  • Hence length of diagonal = \sqrt{l^{2}+ b^{2} }, where l=length of the rectangle and b= breadth of the rectangle

Now in △PQR, using Pythagoras theorem, we have

PR^{2}  =  PQ^{2} + QR^{2}

⇒ PR = \sqrt{15^{2}+ 8^{2} }

⇒ PR =\sqrt{225+64}

⇒PR =\sqrt{ 289} = 17 c.m.

Hence length of diagonal PR=17cm

Similarly length of diagonal QS=17cm.
