Given

✭ A force of 50N acts in the direction as shown in figure

✭ A block of mass 5 kg resisting on a smooth horizontal surface

To Find

◈ Acceleration of the block?

Solution

Refer to the attachment!!

✪ F_p is the pseudo force acts in the direction opposite to the direction of acceleration

In Horizontal Direction

➝ F_p = F sin 60°

  • F sin 60° = 25√3
  • F_p = 5a

➝ 5a = 25√3

➝ a = {25√3}/5

➝ Acceleration = 5√3

Know More

There are two frames of reference, namely

⪼ Inertial System

⪼ Non Inertia frame

Inertial System

Here we would observe that the system is in equilibrium since no acceleration acts on it. It obeys Newton's law.

Non Inertial System

Here there would be a net acceleration acting on the system. So obviously it won't be in equilibrium and also we can't apply Newton's law in here. To make the system at equilibrium we introduce a pseudo force acting in the direction opposite to the acceleration. For a system to be at equilibrium it should have balanced force in all directions
