Answer:

  1. manure, slurry, worm castings, peat, seaweed and guano
  2. oilcakes, blood meal, fish manure
  3. crop
  4. rice, maize, sorghum, pearl millet/bajra
  5. wheat, barley, peas, gram
  6. Weeding is the process to remove out the weeds. Weeds are unwanted plants which grown along the useful crops. Weeding is required because weeds are competitive plants as they reduce the useful crop yield by acquiring space, fertilizers and nutrients from the soil.
  7. Irrigation is the process of applying water to the crops artificially to fulfil their water requirements.
  8. Preparation of soil is the first step before growing of crop. It helps to turn the soil and loosen it to allow the roots to penetrate deep into it. The loosening of the soil helps in the growth of several soil microbes, earthworms etc., which enrich the soil with humus and other essential nutrients.
  9. Threshing is the process of loosening the edible part of grain (or other crop) from the straw to which it is attached. It is the step in grain preparation after reaping. Threshing does not remove the bran from the grain.
  10. The process of watering the crops is called irrigation.

Two methods of irrigation are:

(i) Sprinkler system : This system is used on the uneven land where less water is available.

(ii) Drip irrigation: This system is used to save water as it allows the water to flow drop by drop at the roots of the plants.
