given internally dimensions of cistern
= 150 cm× 120cm × 110cm
volume of cistern = 150× 120× 110= 198000 cm3
given volume of water in cistern = 129600 cm3
remaining volume of cistern to filled =
1980000-129600= 1850400 cm3
let required no. of bricks be n.
volume of each brick = 22.5 × 7.5× 6.5= 1096.875 cm3
water absorbed by 1 brick = 1096.875 / 17 cm3
then, water absorbed by n bricks = n(1096.875/17) cm3
Now volume of remaining water + absorbed by n bricks = n × volumes of each bricks
1850400 + n(1096.875/17) = n (1096.875})
n × 1096.875 × 16/17 = 1850400
n = 1850400 × 17 / 1096.875 × 16 =
1792.4103 (1792 approx)
Hence, 1792 bricks can be put in cistern
