Ans ‘People as Resource’ refers to a country’s working people in terms of their existing

productive skills and abilities. Human resource is an asset for the economy rather than a

liability. Population becomes human capital when there is investment made in the form of

education, training and medical care.

Ques 2. Define human capital formation.

Ans. Adding more in terms of higher education, skills and nutrition to add productivity to the

existing human capital is called human capital formation

Ques 3. Classify Economic Activities.

Ans. 1. Primary- Exploiting the natural resources for income generation. Example- Farming,

mining etc.

2. Secondary- Transforming the primary goods into finished goods. Also known as industrial

or manufacturing activities. Example- Oil seeds into oil, sugarcane into sugar etc.

3. Tertiary – It provides support to the primary and secondary sectors through various

services like transport, communication ,banking ,education etc.

Ans . Due to historical and cultural reasons in India there has been a division of labour

between male and female population in India. Men are expected to do outside activities for

livelihood and women are expected to perform the household chores. As a result women lag

behind in terms of education, nutrition and skill development essential to perform economic

activities. Women are paid for their work when they enter the labour market. Their earning, like that of their male counterpart is determined on the basis of education and skill. A majority of the women due to meagre education and low skill formation and hence women are paid low compared to men. Most women work where job security is not there.

Ans Education is the most important component of human resource development.

1. Proper education and training enable the formation of the human capital.

4. With investments made on education one can yield a high return as it opens new

People as resource is a way of referring county working people in terms of their existing productive skills and abilities It is people who have ability to contribute to create the gross national product.People and, therefore consider to be the most important resource of our country .This resource is known as human resources this is the popular side of large population .The all round development of a country depends not so much on the size of population as on skills, awareness, technically knowledge, health, etc.... of the people .thus population is an assent for the economy rather than realibility
