Quadrilateral:

The closed figure formed by joining four non collinear points in an order is called a quadrilateral

Parallelogram :

A quadrilateral in which both pairs of opposite sides are parallel is called a parallelogram.

                                           

The sum of the adjacent sides of a parallelogram is 180°.


A quadrilateral is a parallelogram if

i)Its opposite sides are equal

ii) its opposite angles are equal

iii) diagonals bisect each other

iv) a pair of opposite sides is equal and parallel.

(i) AD = BC   (Opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal)


(ii) 
DCB = DAB (Opposite angles of a parallelogram are equal)


(iii) OC = OA    (Diagonals of a parallelogram are equal)

DAB + m CDA = 180∘ (Adjacent angles in a parallelogram are supplementary)
