Complete Question :- Yesterday I went to an exhibition and I saw a board showing the information of the admission fee at the exhibition gate is Rs.1.50 for children and Rs.4.00 for adults. One day the total amount collected is Rs 4387.50 then the number of children and adults attended, if the total attended children and adults together is 1675 .

Solution :-

Let number of children attend were x and adults were y .

so,

→ x + y = 1675 ------- Eqn.(1)

and,

→ 1.5x + 4y = 4387.5 -------- Eqn.(2)

multiply Eqn.(1) by 4 and subtracting Eqn.(2) from result ,

→ 4(x + y) - (1.5x + 4y) = 4 * 1675 - 4387.5

→ 4x - 1.5x + 4y - 4y = 6700 - 4387.5

→ 2.5x = 2312.5

→ x = 925 .

then,

→ Number of adults, y = 1675 - 925 = 750 .

Therefore, the number of children and adults attended were (C) 925, 750 .
