Question 1.
What are the three types of plate movements on the earth?
Answer 1.
(a). Converging Boundary : When the plates come towards each other, they form convergent boundaries. The plates collide, crumble or even slide other under the other. It may also be known as folding movements. For example, Himalayan Mountain were formed by convergence of Indo-Australian plate against Eurasian Plate.
(b). Divergent Boundary : In plate tectonics, a divergent border or divergent plate boundary is a linear feature that exists between two tectonic plates which are moving away from each other.
(c) Transform Boundary : Transform plate boundaries are the places where two plates slide from one to the other. The fracture zone that creates a transform plate boundary is known as a transformation fault.
