QUESTION :-

Q. 15 men can mow 40 hectares of land in 1 day. How much will 6 men mow in 1 day?

(a) 16 hectares

(b) 12 hectares

(c) 20 hectares

(d) 24 hectares

SOLUTION :-

here it's given that 15 men can mow 40 hectares of a land in one day.

what if we changed 15 men into 6 men for a day does it effect the number of hectors ?

yes it is , because it is in the direct proportion.

back to question :-

lets take the number of hectares can mow by 6 men in a day will be "x"

since the land is same

15 men can mow 40 hectares of land in 1 day

= 15/40

6 men can mow x hectares of land in 1 day

= 6/x

→ 15/40 = 6/x

• [ transpose "6" to the LHS ]

→ 40×6/15 = x

• [ Multiply "6×40" ]

→ 240/15 = x

• [ divide the numerator "240" by "15" ]

x = 16

so in conclusion , 6 men can mow 16 hectors in a day

so options a) 16 hectares is the correct option.

more to know
