zinc is more reactive as compared to the both hydrogen and copper. But copper is less reactive than the hydrogen.So zinc is capable of reacting with chloride Ion replacing hydrogen while copper can do so.
so hydrogen gas is liberated when zinc reacts with HCl while it is not liberated when copper reacts with HCl
so hydrogen gas is liberated when zinc reacts with HCl while it is not liberated when copper reacts with HCl

zinc is above hydrogen in the activity series thats why it displaces hydrogen to liberate hydrogrn gas.
whereas copper is below hydrogen in activity series. it is not able to displace hydrogen from acid. thus it doesnot liberate hydrogen
