Domestic waste can be used as manurethrough sanitary landfills that is, where the wet domestic waste is buried in layers and covered with several layers of soil. The compacted soil layer is to to prevent odours and windblown debris. Through biodegradation the waste is converted to manure.

Domestic waste comprises of two types of materials. (i) biodegradable : leaves , rotten food, etc. (ii) non- biodegradable : plastics , glass, metal , scrap etc.

The non - biodegradable waste is sent to industry , company involved in recycling.

The biodegradable waste should be deposited in the land fills. with the passage of time, it is converted into manure .
