A.)

Ans. i ) The characteristic property of carbon as depicted in the above figure is Cattination . It is the self linking property of carbon by which it can form long and continuous chains .

Ans.ii) The reason for the existence of this unique property is the Tetra valent nature of carbon i,e a valency of 4 . Also it's an organic compound and this property is readily shown by organic compounds .

Ans.iii) Cyclo Hexane : Formula → C6H12 .

[ For the structure refer the attachment ]

B.)

i)C2H5OH ( Ethanol ) + KmNO4 ( acidic ) -----------> CH3COOH + H2O

→ The name of carbon compound is Ethanoic Acid ( CH3COOH )

ii) Na + C2H5OH -------------> C2H5 O Na + H2 ,

→ The name of the carbon product is Sodium Ethoxide.
