When l = 2 the value of m = -2,-1, 0 ,+1,+2
Now, for the 3d orbital:
Principal quantum number (n) = 3
Azimuthal quantum number (l) = 2
Magnetic quantum number (ml) = – 2, – 1, 0, 1, 2
Now, for the 3d orbital:
Principal quantum number (n) = 3
Azimuthal quantum number (l) = 2
Magnetic quantum number (ml) = – 2, – 1, 0, 1, 2

concept :
we know,
For s , P, d and f orbitals , value of l is 0 , 1 , 2 and 3 respectively.
where l is azimuthal quantum number
for azimuthal number = l
megnetic quantum number ( m )= +l , 0, -l
ex : - if azimuthal ( l ) = 2
then, m = +2, +1 , 0, -1 , -2
now, come to the point:
For 3d - orbitals
here , 3 represents principal quantum number.
hence, n = 3
for d orbital , azimuthal quantum number =2
hence, l = 2
now, if l = 2
then, magnetic quantum number {m} = +2, +1 , 0, -1, -2
