Answers
Your answer:
Dr Sadao and his wife Hana knew that their humanitarian act of saving the wounded enemy soldier was a serious crime by law and would be questioned by everyone. Dr Sadao did it because of his sense of duty as a doctor but his wife Hana did it because of purely humanitarian instincts and apparently because she respected her husband and as a sense of duty towards him washed and fed the American.
Hope it helps!
Dr Sadao's compulsion of saving the enemy soldier was professionally justifiable but Hana apparently had no such compulsion. Still , certain values nurtured by her uphold the decision of her husband and support his action.
Firstly, her love and loyalty towards her husband and her faith in him made her approve his decision . Secondly , and more importantly, women instinctively are preservers and not destroyers . After all, there is a mother in every woman and mother can't be killers .
Also, Hana is an educated women and her logical assessment it is bound to differ from the jingoistic attitude of her domestic servants . So, she too is justifiably sympathetic towards the Prisoner of War in spite of vehement objections and defiance of the servants and the riskis involved. Her sensitivity and values of kindness and Mercy full attitude make her get over all her prejudice and treat 'the enemy' with all positive kindness and Hospitality .
