you all know some basic difference between metal and non - metal . that is
i) metal are usually solid at room temperature but non - metal are usually solids or gases at room temperature .
ii) melting points and boiling points of metals is higher than non - metal .
iii) metal is good conductor of electricity but non-metal usually bad conductor of electricity.
iv)metal are malleable and ductile but non - metal are brittle.

now, some standard difference between metals and non metals :
i) metals have low Ionisation enthalpies but non - metal have high Ionisation enthalpies.
ii) usually , metal have positive electron gain enthalpy but non-metals have negative electron gain enthalpy .
iii)metals act as reducing agents but non- metals act as oxidizing agents.
iv) compound of metals are usually ionic in nature but compound of non-metals are usually covalent in nature.

❤.METALS:

  • Metals are usually solids at room temperature (except Hg).
  • Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity.
  • Metals have high M.P and B.P
  • Generally these are electropositive.
  • These forms more ionic compounds.

❤.NON - METALS:

  • Non - metals are usually solids (or) gases at room temperature.
  • Non - Metals are poor conductors of heat and electricity.
  • Non - Metals have low M.p and B.p
  • Generally these are electronegative.
  • These forms more covalent compounds.
