QUESTION 3:
(a) A gas turbine unit takes in air at 30C and pressure ratio 6:1. The compressor is driven by high pressure turbine. The isentropic efficiency of the compressor and turbine are 0.90 respectively. The maximum cycle temperature is 1250C. Take the mass flow as 5 kg/s. Calculate:
(i) The net power developed by the unit per kg/s mass flow rate
(ii) Heat supplied in combustion chamber
(iii) The cycle efficiency of the unit
For the compression process take Cp = 1.005 kJ/kgK and  =1.4
For the combustion and the expansion process take Cp = 1.15 kJ/kgK and  =1.333 Neglect the mass of fuel.
