The given data is 13, 17, 16, 14, 11, 13, 10, 16, 11, 18, 12, 17
now, arrange it in ascending order,
10, 11, 11, 12 , 13, 13, 14, 16, 16, 17, 17, 18

now,
number of observation = 12 ( an even number )
so,
Median(M)=\frac{\frac{Nth}{2} observation+(\frac{N}{2}+1)th\: observation}{2}\\\\=\frac{\frac{12}{2}th\: observation+(\frac{12}{2}+1)th\: observation}{2}\\\\=\frac{6th\: observation+7th\: observation}{2}
now, see in ascending order ,
6th position = 13
7th position = 14
hence,
M = ( 13 + 14)/2 =13.5

now ,
see attachment , we got absolute value of the deviation of xi from M.
now,
Mean deviation about median ,
= \frac{\sum{|x_i-M|}}{n}\\\\=\frac{28}{12}\\\\=2.33
