On solving x^2 -5x + 3 =0

Compare this eq with ax^2 + bx +c

We get a = 1 ,b= -5 ,c=3

Now Discriminant = b^2-4ac= (-5)^2 -4×1×3 =25-12 =13 > 0 so it have real and unequal roots

Possible values of x= -b +√4ac/2a

= -(-5) + √13/2 = 5+ √13/2

And another value is given by -b - √4ac / 2a = 5-√13/2
