We all know that whether a battle is a physical one or a mental one, only the side that is stronger of the two wins in both the cases.
But this is not the case in the battle between crime and punishment as it is mainly a battle of wits and who is the wittier one. Take the example of Portia and Antonio vs Shylock in The Merchant of Venice.
In this type of battle,the side which outwits the other wins. But it is not always that a criminal gets punished. Like it happened in the story - "Evans Tries an O-level", when the clever Evans managed to escape from right under the nose of the police officers.
