The role of HCL in stomach are as followed :
1. To kill the bacteria present with food material .
2. It activate the enzyme pepsin for the digestion of protein.

(b) the enzyme is the bio - catalyst , which help in the digestion of food without involving itself in the food , for eg. the enzyme saliva amylase ( which is present in mouth cavity , digest the carbohydrates . )
