Step-by-step explanation:

SOLUTION:-

LENGTH=40CM

BREADTH=22CM

PERIMETER= 2(L+B) {BECAUSE BOTH HAVE SAME PERMITER}

2(40+22)

124CM

PERIMETER OF SQUARE=4S

124=4×S

124/4=S

S=31

SIDE=31

AREA OF SQUARE=S

=31×31

=961CM²

AREA OF RECTANGLE=B

=40×22

=880C

SQUARE SIDE IS 31 AND ALDO HAVE MORE AREA

Given:-

  • Length and breadth of the rectangular shaped wire is 40cm and 22cm respectively.

To find:-

  • What will be side of the square if the same wire will be shaped into square.
  • Which shape will enclose more area.

Solution:-

  • ★According to question the length and the breadth is given.If we find the perimeter we will be able to find the total length of the wire. Then we can reshape it into square.

  • We know that the formula to calculate the perimeter of rectangle is 2(length+breadth)

Henceforth,

»2(40cm+22cm)

»2×62cm

»134cm

Therefore the total length of the wire is 134cm.

We also know the formula for perimeter of square.

The side of the square will be

»4×side=134cm

»side = 31cm

Hence, the side of the square is 31cm.

Now we have to calculate the area of both the shape of wire.

We know that the area of a rectangle is length×breadth.

So the area of the rectangular shaped wire is

»40cm×22cm

»880cm²

Now we have to calculate the area of square shaped wire.

We have the formula for area of square as s².

So, on substituting the values we get

»31²

»961cm²

On comparing both we can see that the

  • area of square shaped wire>area of rectangular shaped wire
