Question 7.32 Predict which of the following reaction will have appreciable concentration of reactants and products:
a) Cl2(g) <---> 2Cl(g) ; Kc = 5 x 10^(-39)
b) Cl2(g) + 2NO(g) <--->2NOCl(g) ; Kc = 3.7 x 10^8
c) Cl2(g) + 2NO2(g) <--->2NO2Cl(g) ; Kc = 1.8

Hi
Here is your answer,
For the reaction of (c) equilibrium Kc is neither high nor low so the reactants and products will be present in appreciable concentrations.
Hope it helps you!

Concept :- when the value of equilibrium constant ( Kc) is greater than 10³ then product predominant
When the value of Kc is less than 10^-3 then reactant predominant.
And if equilibrium constant Kc lies between 10^-3 and 10³ then, both reactant as well as product predominant.
(a) Kc is less than 10^-3 so,reactant predominant.
(b) Kc is greater than 10^3 so, product predominant.
(c) Kc lies between 10^-3 and 10^3 so, Kc is neither high nor very low so the reactants and products will be present is appreciable concentration.
