Question 7.4 Write the expression for the equilibrium constant, Kc for each of the following

reactions:

(i) 2NOCl(g) <---> 2NO(g) + Cl2(g)

(ii) 2Cu(NO3)2 (s) <---> 2CuO(s) + 4NO2(g) + O2(g)

(iii) CH3COOC2H5(aq) + H2O(l) <---> CH3COOH (aq) + C2H5OH (aq)

(iv) Fe(3+) (aq) + 3OH(-)(aq) <---> Fe(OH)3 (s)

(v) I2(s) + 5F2 <---> 2IF5

concept :- Kc shows the ratio of the product of concentrations of products to the product of concentrations of the reactants and each raised to a power equal to the corresponding stoichiometric coefficient .
e.g., if any reaction ,
aA +bB <=> cC + dD
then,
equilibrium constant ;
Kc = [C]^c[D]^d/[A]^a[B]^b

now,
(i)Kc =[NO]²[Cl]/[NOCl]²

(ii) Kc = [NO2]⁴[O2]
[ because we know, molar conc. of solid and liquid will be constant. ]

(iii) Kc = [CH3COOH][C2H5OH]/[CH3COOC2H5][H2O]

(iv) Kc = 1/[Fe^3+][OH^-]³
[because Fe(OH)3 is solid ,[Fe(OH)3]=1]

(v) Kc = [IF5]²/[F2]^5
[ because I2 is solid so, [I2] = 1
