Yes, this story reminds me of the story"Birth" by A.J. Cronin.
Both the stories have some similarities.
Both, Dr. Sadao and Dr. Andrew Manson did so irrespective of their stressed mental condition. In both the stories the doctors have shown their humanity towards saving the life other human beings. They both did that with care, sympathy and devotion.
