(1/3 +7/3i) + (4 + 1/3i) - (-4/3 +i)
= (1/3 +7/3i + 4 + 1/3i) + 4/3 -i

use, (a + ib) + (x + iy) = (a + x) + i(b + y)

=(1/3 + 4 + 4/3) + (7/3 + 1/3 -1)i
=(1 + 12 + 4)/3 + i(7+1 -3)/3
=17/3 + 5i/3

Hence, (17/3) + (5/3)i is the answer.
