Option b : 35 is the required answer

 \bf \: Solution

Let M and N present ages be 3x and 4x respectively.

Ten years ago

M's age was (3x - 10) years ; N's age would be (4x - 10) years

ATQ (According to the question)

M was half of N's age i.e M = N/2

 \sf \: 3x - 10 =  \dfrac{4x - 10}{2}

 \sf \: 6x - 20 = 4x - 10

 \sf \: 6x - 4x =  - 10 + 20

 \sf \: 2x = 10

 \bf \: x = 5

M's present age (3x) = 3*5 = 15 years

N's present age (4x) = 4*5 = 20 years

Total sum of their present ages = 15 + 20 = 35
