atomic no.of an element tells us about the electronic configuration of the element ex for element X the electronic configuration is ( 2,8,3)

so it tells about the no.of valence electrons which is very vital for chemical reaction to take place

atomic no stay fixed for an element and it increases by one unlike atomic mass which has unequal gradient

the atomic no tells us about the electropositivity or electro negativity of the element with the help of valence electrons

for eg the element X has 3 electrons in its outermost shell so that means it is electropositive in nature

atomic no. of an element is considered more important than its atomic mass as it tells us about the various properties of the given element like:

  1. given element x has the valency +3 we will know that by the electronic configuration of the element which is 2,8,3.
  2. we will know about the nature of the element whether it is metallic or non-metallic. given element is metallic as it donates electrons.
  3. we will also know that it is negative or positive by nature as we get to know about its nature .
