Given :

Factories

8(x+y)^3-50(x+y)

Solution :

= 8(x+y)³ - 50(x+y)

Take 2(x+y) as a common

= 2(x+y)[4(x+y)² - 25]

Applying identity a²-b² = (a+b)(a-b)

= 2(x+y) [{2(x+y)}² - (5)²]

= 2(x+y) [(2x+2y+5)(2x+2y-5)]

= 2(x+y)(2x+2y+5)(2x+2y-5)

Some important identities :

  • (a+b)² = a²+b²+2ab
  • (a-b)² = a²+b²-2ab
  • a²-b² = (a+b)(a-b)
  • a³-b³ = (a-b)(a²+ab+b²)
  • a³+b³ = (a+b)(a²-ab+b²)
  • (a+b)³ = a³+b³+3ab(a+b)
  • (a-b)³ = a³-b³-3ab(a-b)
