Contraception is the method for birth control.
there are many ways to do it ;
1) Using physical barrier : Like male and female condoms
2) using chemical barriers : like spermicidal creams
3) Intra uterine devices: Like copper Ts as it increses the phagocytosis in the uterus and decreases the sperm number.
4) Implants : It is done by doctors as they insert stick like chemicals below the armpit in females.
5) oral pills of progesterone and oestrogen and many more.
All are basically to check that fertilisation does not take place and if it does implantation will not occur !!

Four contraception methods are -
• Barrier method - This includes the physical contraception and does not have any side effects. It includes use of condoms and ejection of male reproductive part before gametes ejaculation.
• Chemical methods - This means preventing the secretion of oestrogens and progesterone, thus not producing egg. It includes intake of chemical pills. It can cause side effects and hormonal instability.
• Implantation/ Intra uterine devices - In this method, egg preventing tools are places which stops the fusion of gametes. Some of these tools are Copper T, loop etc. and are places inside female reproductive part. This could cause irritation in uterus.
• Surgical method - In this method, vas ferens of male reproductive part is bind and is called Vasectomy. In females, fallopian tube is bind to stop implanting of egg, the is known as Tubectomy. It is permanent and can cause infection is surgery is not done correctly.
