Atomic hydrogen is produced when molecular Hydrogen is passed through an electric arc struck between tungsten electrodes ( see attachment )
The lifetime of atomic hydrogen is 0.3sec and hence, it immediately gets converted into molecular form liberating a large amount of energy which is used for cutting and welding purposes in the form of atomic hydrogen torch.
