self incompatibility is the mechanism by which plants recognize it's pollen and don't show pollen pistil interaction.
This is to prevent inbreeding depression.
In self pollination because the pollen from same plant falls on stigma it shows incompatibility

Hello,

★What is self-incompatibility??

When pollen grains of an anther can not germinate in the Stigma of the same flower then those flowers are known as Self-incompatiblity.

★Why does self-pollination does not lead to seed formation in self-incompatible species??

We know that pollination means transfer of pollen grains to the Stigma of same or different flower. This is mainly the process in which seed formation takes place. But in some flowers seed formation Doesn't takes place because of the presence of same sterile Gene on pollen grains and pistil.

Thanks!
