Question.
Ali poured some distilled water in a beaker A and equal amount of salty water in a beaker B. He suspended
thermometer in both beakers and heat them equally for 2-3 minutes. Will temperature of beaker A and B bet
same or different. If different then write the reason for this difference.​

The temperature of beaker A and B will be different.

  • The salt water will have a higher boiling point, that is more heat needs to be provided to it to make it at the same temperature as the distilled water has reached.
  • The distilled water will boil/heat more quickly as compared to salty water because salty water has salt (impurities) in it which trap the water molecules and prevents evaporation of the water molecules.
  • The impurities in a solution reduces down the boiling point of a solution due to which it gets less heated up as compared to pure form of the solution.
