Golgi apparatus is a membrane bound cell organelle found in cells, which has different functions, the main fuction of Golgi body is to modify, pack and synthesize substances like proteins and lipids which are manufactured in the Endoplasmic reticulum. It is also involved in the production of lysosomes.

》 It was first described by Camillio Golgi.

》 It consist of a system of membrane bound vessels (flattened sacs) arranged approximately parallel to each other in stacks called cisternael.

$\underline\bold{Functions:-}$

》 It packages materials synthesised in the cell and dispatches them to intercellular targets such as plasma membrane , or extracellular targets.

》 It produces vacoules of secretary vesicles which contain such as enzymes, proteins, cellulose etc.

》 Golgi apparatus is also involved in the synthesis of plasma membrane, cell wall and lysosomes.
