  • Meso compounds are the one who has chiral centre but also has plane of symmetry.
  1. in 1st option, there are no chiral centres, but has Plane of symmetry. You might be confused that there is chiral centre. No, it isn't! the methyl group attached to the carbon has chiral carbon. but no. when you see from both the sides symmetric carbon chain is observed hence there is no chiral centre. no meso compounds possible.
  2. In 2nd option, there are two chiral centres i.e. carbon attached to methyl group because on  moving from both the sides we get unsymmetric chain. Thus, there are to chiral centres. And we also get plane of symmetry. Hence, it is a meso compound.
  3. In similar way you can see tat over there also in 3rd option we have chiral centres but no plane of symmetry. hence no meso compound.

THUS, ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION IS (2) OPTION.
