Answer:

Mass of gun, M=1/2 t=500 kg ( 1 tonne = 1000 kg)

Recoil velocity of gun, V=0.8 m/s

Mass of shell, m=4 kg

Velocity of shell, v=?

Using,

Mass of shell x Velocity of shell=Mass of gun x Recoil velocity of gun

m×v=M×V4×v=500×0.8or velocity of shell, v=500×0.84=100 m/s
