A uniform wire. So resistance of wire between P and M is (2000 / 2) = 1000 ohms
When the voltmeter is placed in parallel with the wire, the resistance between P and M will be equivalent to 500 ohms.
(((((1 / Re = 1/1000 + 1 / 1000
1/Re = 2 / 1000
Re = 500 ohms )))))
So total resistance between P and Q = (500 + 1000) = 1500 ohms
Ohm's law: i = v/r
therefore, current entering P = (150 /1500) = 0.1 amp
Then,voltage across voltmeter = i * Re = (0.1 * 500) = 50 volts
