________________

1 + 4 = 9

2 + 8 = 18

3 + 6 = 15

So if the number is x + y then it is equal to [( x + y ) +y ]

here we need to calculate value of

7 + 8 = [( 7 + 8 ) + 8]

= 23

ANSWER IS OPTION B

= 23

Logic

The logic is that the first number is added with the double of the second number to obtain a number in the series.

1 + 4 = 9

2 + 8 = 18

3 + 6 = 15

7 + 8 = ?

First one says 1 + 4 = 9 .

We can easily note that 9 - 1 = 8 which is double of 4 .

Second one is 2 + 8 = 18 .

Here too 18 - 2 = 16 which is double that of 8 .

Third one is 15 - 3 = 12 which is double of 6 .

We are given to do 7 + 8 .

Let 7 + 8 = x .

x - 7 is the double of 8 .

⇒ x - 7 = 2×8

⇒ x - 7 = 16

⇒ x = 16 + 7

⇒ x = 23

Hence OPTION b iz correct .
