Answer:

when x=3 and y=4

4=3m+c

c=4-3m

when x=-2 and y=1

1=-2m+c

1=-2m+4-3m

-3=-5m

3/5=m ans

c=4-3*3/5

c=4-9/5

5c=20-9

5c=11

c=11/5 ans

SOLUTION

We have many way to show the relation between two variables one of the way is to arranging in

the equation of the type.....

Y = Mx + C (straight line)

where y and X are the two variables.

  • m is the tan of angle made by the line made with positive X axis.....
  • c is the intercept made by the line with y axis

The slope of the line passes through the point (X,Y) and (x,y)

m = ( x - X )/( y - Y )

ACC to your question....

(X,Y) = (3,4)

(x,y) = (-2,1)

Slope = 1-4/-2-3

Slope = 3/5

let this line passes from another point (x,y) than slope of the line ACC to this point....

x-4/y-3 = 3/5

5(x-4) = 3(y-3)

5x - 20 = 3y - 9

5x - 3y = 11

3y = 5x - 11

Y = (5/3)x - 11/3

Comparing with y = mx + c

m = 5/3

c = -11/3
