Question - nitric oxide reacts with bromine and give nitrosylbromide as per reaction given as follows
2NO(G) + Br2(G) IS IN EQILLIBRIUM TO GIVE OUT 2NOBr(G)
when 0.087 mole of NO and 0.0437 mole of Br2 mixed in a close container at constant temprature,0.0518 mole of NOBr is obtained at eqillibrium. determine the composition of eqillibrium mixture.

hey buddy,
according to ur ques.
Br2 + 2NO ------ 2 NOBr
2 moles of NOBr are formed from 2 moles of NO. Therefore, 0.0518 moles of NOBr are formed from 0.0518 moles of NO.
Again, 2 moles of NOBr are formed from 1 mole of Br.
Therefore, 0.0518 moles of NOBr are formed from
0.0518/2 moles of Br, or 0.0259 moles of NO.
The amount of NO and Br present initially is as follows:
[NO] = 0.087 moles [Br2] = 0.0437 moles
Therefore, the amount of NO present at equilibrium is:
[NO] = 0.087 – 0.0518
= 0.0352 moles
And, the amount of Br present at equilibrium is:
[Br2] = 0.0437 – 0.0259
= 0.0178 moles
hope it helps...
