Dimensions of the rectangle :
length ( l ) = 22 cm
breadth ( b ) = 12 cm
If it is rolled along its length to form a
cylinder ,
Dimensions of the cylinder :
height of the cylinder( h ) = breadth of the
rectangle = 12 cm
circumference of the base of the cylinder =
length of the rectangle = 22 cm
=> 2πr = 22 [ r is radius of the base ]
=> r = 22/( 2π )
r = 11/π cm
Therefore ,
volume of the cylinder ( V ) = πr²h
V = π ( 11/π )² × 12
V = π × ( 11 × 11 )/( π × π ) × 12
V = ( 11 × 11 × 12 )/π
V = ( 11 × 11 × 12 × 7 )/22
V = 462 cm³
