Question : What is uniform circular motion? An athlete runs on a circular track whose radius is 50 m with a constant speed. It takes 50 sec to reach point B from point A. Find

a) Distance

b) Displacement

c) Speed

\huge\mathfrak{Solution}

Given that radius is 50 m.

Time taken = 50 sec

Here, we can see that Point B lies to the opposite of A, such that AB forms the diameter. So, distance travelled from A to B = circumference of arc AB

Since, AB is the diameter, the circumference of arc AB = \sf \frac{2 \pi r }{2} \\\\= \pi r

So, distance travelled = π × 50 = 50π m

Taking π as 3.14, we get distance = 50 × 3.14 = 157 m

b) Now, displacement is the shortest path travelled, hence, displacement = measure of diameter AB = 50 + 50 = 100m

c) We know that speed = distance/time

distance = 157 m, time = 50 sec

⇒ speed = 157/50 = 3.14 m/s

\huge\mathfrak{Answer}\\\\

\sf Distance = 157m \ or \ 50 \pi\\Displacement = 100 m\\Speed = 3.14 \ second \ or \ \pi \ sec
