(A) Why should we conserve resources ?
We are living in a society where the technology is developing with each passing day but at a cost of utilization of resources. Most of the scientists have concluded that this rate of development is not going to be constant as we will exhaust our resources in a few centuries and the development will come to a halt. So, we need measures which limit the utilization of resources and help us in sustainable development. The process of renewal of these resources is much slower than our consumption. These processes are natural and take millions of years. We need to develop certain methods which can limit our consumption of our resources. It is the high time where we must come together to conserve resources. It can be achieved with use of in - exhaustible resources. If right steps aren't taken in time, humanity might face its end fighting each other for resources widening gap between each other.
(B) Advantages and Disadvantages of Dams:-
Advantages:-
1. They help us in flood control saving environment and people from the consequences of the disaster.
2. They help in channeling water to places which are deficient in water allowing barren land to be productive.
3. Most dams allow power production which is necessary in today's world due to increased use to resources.
4. They are a one-time investment which means once they are constructed they can fulfill our purposes for a very long time.
5. They can also serve as a tourist attraction creating employment opportunities for several people.
Disadvantages:-
1. They destroy the flora and fauna of the place the are built in and force people to migrate form there.
2. Though dams are a one time investment but still the cost of constructing them is high and they require constant maintenance.
3. Several times, dams have failed in flood control and instead have proved to worsen the conditions.
4. Silt, which is necessary for the crops gets deposited in the them not allowing necessary minerals to be available to them.
5. Dams even affect the water level of places, which turns out to be harmful for the environment.

Why should we conserve resources?
We should conserve resources because natural resources provide us with our daily needs and that is why it is the main source of the daily needs. Natural resources are very limited in nature and we need natural resources for our future generations. Some natural resources are non renewable like petrol for example and we cannot create petrol as it is a non renewable natural resource and it takes millions of years to regenerate so it is very important to conserve natural resources like fossil fuels(petrol diesel etc) for future use or our next generation will not be having them.
========================
Advantages of Dams:
- We do not need to use fossil fuels for the production of electricity instead we can use hydroelectricity.
- Reduce the release of green house gasses like Methane which is produced when we make electricity using fossil fuels.
- Dams can provide water for irrigation purposes.
- I talked about the non renewable source of energy in my first answer and dam is a renewable source of energy which is a big advantage.
Disadvantages of Dams:
- Dams are very expensive to build this is a big disadvantage.
- Dams require a lot of maintenance which makes it expensive to maintain.
- If Dams break it causes very much destruction as we have seen in the floods of Kerala.
