The amount difference between solute and solvent is in the order of

10^6.

For example:

1 mg of solute per litre of solvent is referred to as 1 PPM.

In order to make a solution measuring in PPM, it is to be made sure that solvent: solute ratio should be 10^6.

2. 100 PPM solution can be prepared be mixing 100 mg solute in 1 litre solvent.

10 PPM solution is prepared by mixing 10 mg solute in 1 litre solvent.

1 PPM solution can be prepared by mixing 1 mg solute in 1 litre solvent.
